"There is an art to home. How you live, those that live with you, the
treasures you keep, all define the art of your home. Your home is
where you live; it must be comfortable."
- Jeff Williams
Jeff
and Patti Williams craft homes that reflect their customers' own unique
styles. Family, individual desires, and budget are the essential
elements that create "art" in
the homes built by Jeff Williams Construction, Inc.
Jeff and Patti
Williams have been working together building houses for long enough to know the strengths and
expertise each contribute to the team. Jeff's ambition started early. His
grandfather was a home builder and Jeff knew he wanted to follow in
those footsteps. When he was five years old, his family moved to Plano
into one of the first houses built in a new subdivision.
The
construction sites around his home became his playground, and he watched
with fascination as homes were started, built and completed. He followed
this early ambition, earning a Building Construction degree from Texas
A&M University. He worked for an uncle in commercial construction while
attending A&M. But the residential side of the industry was an
intentional and natural choice to Jeff. After graduation, he was
immediately recruited by a major home builder in the area.
He spent the
next ten years learning every aspect of the home building operation.
Starting as an assistant superintendent, Jeff quickly moved up the
ranks. He held many positions there, including field manager,
salesperson, purchasing manager, sales manager, and operations manager.
Eventually, the time came to follow his lifelong goal, and Jeff Williams
Construction, Inc. became a reality. The extensive knowledge gained from
his education and experience qualifies Jeff, in his own business, to
oversee the entire home building process from start to finish. He enjoys
both the hands-on role during construction and the direct interaction
with customers.
"Home building begins by developing an understanding of the customer's
ideas. Then, my job is to oversee the implementation of those ideas into
working drawings, budgeting, engineering, scheduling of the job and
finally, completion of the job."
- Jeff Williams
Patti, who has
a B.B.A. in Real Estate from the University of Texas at Arlington, has a
passion for design and color. Like Jeff, Patti is intent on listening to
customers to understand the ideas, goals and budget, and from that,
define the style. Using the information clients provide about what they
want from their home, she develops an individual guidebook containing
all the thoughts and ideas that are essential to the home. The guidebook
leads customers through the process of building their home from start to
finish and includes a timeline with step-by-step directions detailing
what should be selected and when, a list of showrooms, contact names,
addresses and phone numbers, and warranty procedure information.
"The
ideas from our customers devise the path we follow for building the
home. The guidebook is designed to make it easier for customers so they
can relax, have fun and enjoy the experience of building their home. The
most important part is the section
designed for them to keep all pictures, articles, and details they want
to include in their home."
- Patti Williams
"We never
lose site of the customer's goal and budget. A copy of each invoice is
provided to the customer, showing every dollar accounted for. The
details may seem small, but our customers greatly appreciate our efforts
to keep them informed and proactive throughout the process of building
their home."
- Patti Williams
Jeff and Patti
feel fortunate to have built for clients who test their abilities to be
flexible, and are proud of the fact that their homes reflect styles and
personalities as diverse as their clients.
"We don't try to
pigeon-hole our clients into our style. Whether the customer's vision is
Old World, contemporary, Texas or something so incredible it can't even
be labeled, we love the challenge of facilitating it's creation.
Character can be crafted in many looks, styles, and working with a
diverse range of budgets. We take this profession and the honor of
building each customer's home very seriously."
- Patti Williams
Because of
their commitment to be hands-on and build a totally custom home, the
Williams' intentionally limit their production to between six and ten
homes a year. Customers of Jeff Williams Construction, Inc. can rest
assured that the construction of their home is under the personal
supervision of a builder who genuinely cares about them and their house,
and has the knowledge to be sure it is built correctly. Building it
right, in Jeff's opinion, often involves construction practices
exceeding the standard: Tyvek house wrap, properly flashed windows,
brand name, upgraded 12-SEER-HVAC systems, Sheetrock screwed rather than
nailed to the walls, anchor bolts in slabs, rebar rather than wire mesh
in flatwork, properly spaced weep holes and expansion joints in masonry
work, engineered webbed truss floor systems, discretely placed lead
jacks on plumbing extrusions, and 20" metal used in all roof valleys.
"The structure,
engineering, and soundness of the house itself is the underlying
determinant of everything else that follows. It is critical to me that
all our homes are built using exemplary construction practices. Without
care taken in these technical areas, all the "art" is for naught."
- Jeff Williams
Jeff also
credits part of the company's success to the craftsmen they work with.
He has worked with some of the subcontractors for over ten years.
"We are very proud of
our team, which is committed to providing the quality a custom home
deserves. Not only do our customers notice the exceptional
craftsmanship, but also the quality of materials we use."

Jeff Williams
Construction, Inc. has built custom homes in King's Mill and Walnut
Creek in Mansfield, and in Moorewood and Bay Club Estates in Arlington,
as well as on scattered sites in Kennedale, Fort Worth, and Aledo. In an
effort to help slow the rapid expansion of tract home suburbia as well
as the decline of inner-city neighborhoods, Jeff and Patti have also
founded a separate company, the Fort Worth Bungalow Company. Partnering
with Colonial Savings, they have helped to preserve and restore the
beautiful architecture of homes in such areas as Polytechnic Heights,
while providing a unique and affordable alternative to the home buying
public in established urban areas. Building homes
is more than a business to Jeff and Patti Williams. It is a life
calling. It is very personal.
"The feel of a home, the
charm and character, all create the art of home. Our job is to define
the visions and goals of the buyers and translate those into the home.
Our clients complete the picture by placing their treasure in the place
that was created for them."
- Patti Williams
"The greatest honor for us is to be
welcomed back into the homes of our clients after they are living in
them. These homes are our pride. The families that live in them are our
friends."
